India boasts a diverse culture with the world’s largest democracy. India’s burgeoning role as a regional financial hub, its large informal economy and the significant presence of organized criminal gangs mean that financial crimes are becoming more common.
The government has taken significant steps to tighten its anti-money laundering (AML) regime and improve financial regulations, including The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introducing know your customer (KYC) guidelines. However, much of the Indian population remains unbanked and therefore cash transactions, remittance inflows and loans are often entirely unregulated. These significant gaps in the Indian government’s security policies and prosecutions mean that it is imperative for businesses to ensure that they conduct extensive due diligence and closely monitor all large-scale transactions. Our data providers cover approximately 65% of the adult population with the following elements: Complete Name, National ID (PAN, EPIC, or Driver’s License), DOB, Locality, Province, Address, and District. GDC covers over 95% of driver’s through our driver’s license database.

No personally identifiable information leaves the source databases in the process of verifying identities.

How Global Data Consortium Works

The GDC global identity verification platform integrates the best available data and verification intelligence curated from our dozens of in-country partners. Each partner maintains identity verification solutions in their home country, helping in-country clients solve a variety of business problems. They deliver the most reliable identity verification results because they speak the language, understand the regulatory environment, and offer local expertise. Before joining the consortium, partners are required to go through a thorough vetting process, and their data must pass rigorous testing before it is released to GDC customers. But once they qualify to participate, they are our true partners and a big part of the GDC difference.
